Discogs Mobile

We are proud to present to you, Discogs Mobile! Over the past week, we've been hard at work getting a basic version of Discogs accessible to most modern mobile devices. We're targeting iOS and Android first, since they account for 90% of our mobile traffic, with more devices supported in the future.

To access Discogs mobile, simply navigate to www.discogs.com using your preferred mobile browser. By default, you'll see the mobile version of Discogs with an option to switch to the full site if desired.

Here's what you can expect to see when using Discogs Mobile:

* Search
* Artist page
* Master release and release page with 150px album artwork
* Sales history
* Reviews
* Collection & Wantlist management
* Recent activity

This is only the beginning.

  2. At last! I hate it when I'm at Amoeba wondering about something and have to suffer with the non-mobile discogs.com on my phone!

    Thank you :)

  7. Finally! Looks really nice on my iPhone4.
    Can you maybe add: [link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="image.png"/]
    with a nice icon. Than I can add discogs.com to my homescreen / springboard.

    Thank!

  10. I've been dreaming of a Discogs iphone app and have been considering developing one myself. If you by chance need a designer or front-end developer to help with this project I would love the opportunity. Please email me if you are looking for help.

    I guess it can also be done using your API.

  12. @d - It's not an app so it wouldn't be in the app store.

  16. I would really enjoy an iPhone/iOS app, mainly to manage my collection and have it with me any time.

  17. I've created an iPhone app that tracks your collection. It's intended to provide a very fast way of seeing and reviewing your collection when you're out and about, to avoid double-up purchases.

    It's called Crate Digger and it's available for free through the app store - http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=408824579&mt=8 - your discogs collection must be public for this application to retrieve your collection.

  18. I second the call for the Palm Prē, i.e. webOS.

    @Phillipe Laptop mag recently did a little battle between mobile operating systems and webOS came out on top (see here). webOS has a small amount of the market share but among their users, most are near evangelical.

    In that sense, (and perhaps something, we, as Discogs users, can all relate to) they're a lot like (insert your favorite obscure band here). They're not well known, but their fans are crazy about them. Thus, they're good. That being said, and keeping with the aforementioned musical metaphor, you're too busy promoting the (insert mindless pop sensation) of the world. How's that hold a candle to (insert your favorite obscure band here)? I rest my case.

  19. I'd love to have my collection online as a reference but adding all my records is taking ages. I think the best feature you could add would be an online barcode scanner, that uses either the webcam or the camera of mobiles. There are several around (both the delicious library on mac and the amazon app on my ipod work well reading the barcodes for example) so i think it's possible and would totally boost the process of adding records to the database.
    Thank you! :)
