Top 50 Best-Selling Records on Discogs in October 2021

The latest monthly best-selling list is here, and it’s a great way to discover new music as you take a deeper look at what the Discogs Community is collecting. By determining how many purchases were made by Discogs users in the Marketplace, you’ll be able to see which genres, labels, and artists are taking the Community by storm.

The top 50 for October 2021 includes seminal albums from David Bowie, DJ Shadow, Oasis, and Wu-Tang Clan, just to name a few. The inclusion of these popular artists comes as no surprise, but the list is not without its more obscure gems. Ghanaian multi-instrumental Kiki Gyan made the top 50 with a compilation called 24 Hours In A Disco 1978-82. With a recent repress now available, this infectious disco collection compiles dance anthems that the Community can’t get enough of. Tatsuro Yamashita’s For You has been out of print on vinyl since 1985, so City Pop enthusiasts are tracking down the original pressing from 1982.

In addition to iconic records from decades past, this month’s list is topped by a few contemporary artists. London-based soul collective Sault have claimed one of the top spots with their fifth album in three years. A collaborative 7-inch from disco funk group Nu Genea and singer Célia Kameni is limited to 2,500 copies and already sold out on Bandcamp, so it’s only natural that collectors would grab one from their favorite Discogs shop.

With noticeable releases missing from the list (like the ever-popular Random Access Memories) and the holidays quickly approaching, the best-selling list just may shock and awe in November and December.
