Devoid of opinion, hyperbole, and personal slants, we now give you the top 25 best selling techno records of 2016. For you Discogs old-schoolers, this will be business as usual, for you know that Discogs started as a site that stored only electronic music in its database. So what better way to start off a series of top-selling genre posts than with techno records? Now please keep in mind that our tagging system is wholly submitted and edited by you, the community members, and this data is pulled based on any record with the word “techno” in either its “style” or “genre” fields. A good portion of you won’t even think some of this shit is techno. Hell, I don’t even think some of this shit is techno. But it is what it is thanks to you, our dedicated techno music community, who govern these releases and spend your hard-earned dollars on the music therein. Most interestingly, many of these records were not released in 2016; only 6 of the 25 came out in 2016, two of which being the same DJ Metatron record (a reissue of “2 The Sky”).
So enough of my rambling, let’s see these best selling techno records in numbers:
(7) DJ Metatron – “2 The Sky (reissue)“ (273 copies sold)
(12) Paul & Fritz Kalkbrenner – “Sky And Sand“ (221 copies sold)
(14) DJ Metatron – “U’ll Be The King Of The Stars“ (217 copies sold)
(19) Globex – “Inversia 1“ (180 copies sold)
