Design and Usability Updates – Testing for Marketplace Pages

Today we will begin testing on the /sell/list, any item for sale, and the number for sale pages. What this test means for you is that you may see any number of many different versions of these pages (some better than others) and we will be gathering data on these pages as you use them. It is important to note that nothing on these pages is permanent as of yet. This is why we are doing the testing!

If there are any major issues or errors, we of course would like to know about those. Most or all of any little bugs are likely to be fixed on the final version of each page.

To learn more about multivariate testing, visit our page on multivariate experiments.

The test pages will be visible through this week or until we have enough data. Thank you so much for your help!

Jeeper Creepers! Miami Heats Snapback Banquet Your own Peepers About These kinds of Radioactive Threads! It really is oftentimes tempting to think in the background connected with style with regard to unique products connected with long time, Miami Heats Snapback Hats which has a fresh era becoming ushered within that fall in the baseball within Situations Square about Fresh A long time morning in the very first calendar year of an fresh decade. Nonetheless, this specific Miami Heat Hats considering will fog up that large carry connected with background, which takes design precisely as it shows up in the developments in addition to situations in the earlier.
Absolutely no NFL Snapback Hats discussion in the universe connected with style in the 1950’s would be complete without evaluating that outstanding impact Universe Warfare II experienced to the market. NBA Snapback Hats European countries in addition to The united states experienced in the past appeared to London, that global capitol connected with style, with regard to stylistic MLB Snapback Hats motivation in addition to advice within this world nonetheless with the German born invasion connected with London, this specific website appeared to be severed in addition to developers in addition to brands in the remaining universe were being compelled to use family talent.
There were also Knit Hats any lack connected with material in addition to trimmings employed in clothes in the warfare, in addition to rationing techniques which regulated the quantity of clothes, that could end up being obtained, were being released within nations such as The british isles. This MLB Knit Hats specific weather factors prompted wartime style to become quite practical, practically militaristic to look at. NBA Knit Hats That regular wartime outfit within The british isles, by way of example, appeared to be that customised agree with by using squared off shoulders, tapered stomach in addition to just-below-the-knee time-span skirt.
NFL Knit Hats Shoes and boots in addition to totes, in addition to gadgets were being also practical, with the exemption connected with hats. That products to create hats were not rationed so big, NHL Knit Hats strong layouts within hats were being attribute. Nonetheless in most cases, the range connected with clothes becoming produced appeared to be highly limited. Minor stylish Milwaukee Bucks Snapback Hats evening put on appeared to be becoming produced, by way of example, because textiles such as silk were being required to help make parachutes. Supreme Knit Hats There were also any ban to the generation connected with hosiery for any same cause. Hosiery appeared to be nonetheless becoming created from silk, because nylon had not been nonetheless accessible.
Because Oklahoma City Thunder Snapback Hats Uk in addition to United states developers were not eclipsed through Parisian developers in the warfare, Orlando Magic Snapback Hats they will emerged in the post warfare era which has a considerably crisper page in the style universe. Each nations experienced produced essential progress within mass-market clothes generation, also known as “ready-to-wear” clothes, Baltimore Ravens Snapback Hats in part as a consequence of requiring you to manufacture considerable sums connected with uniforms in the warfare. Following on from the warfare, women of all ages returned towards dwelling and to any a reduced amount of productive role within culture.
Femininity Buffalo Bills Snapback Hats returned towards style styles of the morning. No more curtailed because of the rationing connected with textiles in addition to restrictions within acquiring, they will wanted clothes by using tons connected with fabric. Chicago Bears Snapback Hats Even make-up appeared to be heavy – several women of all ages attended through its morning which has a complete displayed face tackle bluish vision liner, coloured vision darkness, mascara, rouge, to dark red lipstick. Cleveland Browns Snapback Hats That products in addition to fragrance industrial sectors boomed. Women of all ages reveled of their usage of products which were being connected with simple provide in the warfare, in addition to excellent self care appeared to be essential.
That Dallas Cowboys Snapback Hats silhouette in the morning in the earlier to mid 1950’s leaned toward that official, and also the customised. Women of all ages were going to continue because mature, stylish, in addition to stylish. Denver Broncos Snapback Hats It was vital that you glimpse ‘every in . that lady’ from top toe, which appeared to be that feminine ethnical tradition that was conditioned within every girlfriend coming from a quite young age from your girlfriend capacity figures in addition to the Detroit Lions Snapback Hats films she noticed in the theatre about Saturday nights. Even that exciting universe connected with higher style popularized to the runways in addition to catwalks in the London style exhibits continued to be official. Watching the widely accepted Artist “pictures” in the Green Bay Packers Snapback Hats morning offers an excellent review within 1950’s style styles. My favored film in the era is actually “How to Wed any Millionaire” featuring sex siren, Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, in addition to Betty Grable. It is just a visible New England Patriots Snapback Hats banquet connected with 1950’s style never to end up being overlooked!
And also the graphic New Orleans Saints Snapback Hats connected with feminine splendor in the morning appeared to be any curvy one particular by using shapely body and a visible demolish, though it appeared to Oakland Raiders Snapback Hats be essential than a women’s stomach end up being compact. Several women of all ages used girdles, Philadelphia Eagles Snapback Hats stomach cinchers in addition to shapers directly below its clothes in achieving this desired graphic. Women of all ages Pittsburgh Steelers Snapback Hats which obtain classic clothes right now will attest to the fact that that stomach measurement connected with classic gowns in addition to skirts feel abnormally compact in comparison with which in the body in addition to demolish.

I am a true Discogs-supporter. But as rkaechele said:
“Why would you want to mess with the original, successful layout? ….. I’m now very discouraged and VERY FRUSTRATED!”
Why must it all be so B I G ? Scrolling all the time. Is this the ‘scrolling-the-touch-screen-design’?
I think you don’t care much about all the comments here. You just do what you like. After the last tests (in august) you kept a lot of things that most people didn’t like, many comments were annihilating (and right!). I don’t understand your concept.

I didn’t like the new
very much complicated (seller from where, condition, tracklist…)
I do prefer the old one

• Sep 13,2012 at 00:09

Amazing that not one iteration I saw was even close in terms of usability or style compared to the old layout.

Also, incredibly unprofessional of you not to inform more about using us all as guinea pigs before you did it.

• Sep 12,2012 at 15:37

Horrible ways to view the product. Why would you want to mess with the original, successful layout? Now I can’t see picture sleeves when reviewing someones seller store. the price is too far to the left and out of view. I can’t tell if it’s another counties pressing. I’m now very discouraged from coming back to this website when previously, I’d check this site and buy nearly every evening!

• Sep 12,2012 at 14:46

Cover thumbnails should be displayed in the sale-list of sellers. This is critical feature of the total user experience and it increases sale-volumes

• Sep 12,2012 at 14:16

The old layout is the best

• Sep 12,2012 at 13:59

Just to let you all know, it’s very weird, in IE, Firefox Avant it just won’t work properly but for some unknown reason it’s perfect going through Google Chrome for some unknown reason. You can search by the format you want, when looking at a persons for sale list you get a picture, price and the sleeve/record condition.Don’t know why this is but it seems to be perfect in chrome.I still though prefer the older version.

• Sep 12,2012 at 13:28

Normally, one would test new design in a selected group of users who would test in a separate environment (i.e. beta testing) outside the normal website or application. Users can be asked to register for such testing, while at the same time the current version remains operational. But no, discogs, who earns 8% on every sold record tries to experiment with all users simultaneously, resulting in a big mess. I can imagine sellers are furious about the recent events. Let alone people who are trying to buy records. Switch to the old version and do your testing in a separate environment!! This is a big shame.

• Sep 12,2012 at 13:15

What a a horrible lay-out, sellers will lose sales because of this, buyers have a horrible time searching:
Marketplace listing does not optimise screen space (too much empty space, scrolling takes way longer to get to the end of the list, too large cover pics, the condition status of the item (VG, VG+ NM, etc etc ) is completely lost in the listing, the seller’s name is lost in the listing, etc etc. Since new lay-out and programming, in some browsers there are continuous log-in problems, accounts get thrown out when accessing messages, or when accessing marketplace items. And I can go on and on. This is one of the worst update & design efforts I have ever seen in 20 years in the Internet. I hope the discogs staff is happy, also with the recent increase in selling fees.

• Sep 12,2012 at 11:11

Grade of condition missing as well.

• Sep 12,2012 at 10:46

I think the look itself is OK….While looking at my personal “items for sale” page it would be much better if:

-There were contrast between the individual listings on each page.

-Lines around the boxes.

-Images next to the item for sale

-Seller comments missing from item for sale.

-Grade of condition missing as well.

Also…I could list items more quickly and easily (and sell more records possibly) if Discogs were to remove the human confirmation from the price history. Possibly combining the full price history with the items currently for sale would make it WAY better.

• Sep 12,2012 at 10:09

I received this message today in an email from a regular customer:

“Hi, Chris!

I think it’s time to find another records site. With so awful design and useability, like new discogs, I don’t like to buy anything here.”

• Sep 12,2012 at 09:06

Why keep changing the layout? I can honestly say that my turnover on here has dropped away since the many changes you guys have recently implemented – that means only one thing – buyers are navigating away….my stock is as strong as ever and my prices are cheap as ever so nothing has changed there – it can only mean that buyers are NOT utilising the site in the same way that they were before the many recent changes – PLEASE – revert to a previous incarnation – it’s now taking almost as long to list on here too now as it is on eBay and that is one of the reasons I don’t sell on there anymore…

• Sep 12,2012 at 08:41

No covers visible!

• Sep 12,2012 at 08:35

My autofill hasn’t worked for a while – major pain – just leave it alone – was working just fine…

• Sep 12,2012 at 07:42

I am MAC based and the Firefox browser shows NO PICTURES!!!!! My Store looks awful! The Marketplace show no pictures either, just text. This totally sucks. Safari shows tiny 1/2″ X 1/2″ thumbnails. A bit better but worst than eBay!
Looks like dramatic variation from browser to browser. I’m with “pussclod” I am building a store here and now this???? WTF X10! The old site was great. No orders/business at all!

• Sep 12,2012 at 07:07

I have over 2000 records listed on discogs & I use it every hour practically. I am a full time record dealer and I have to say I am NOT HAPPY with the changes. The previous version worked beautifully & I didn’t even mind too much that you raised your fees because I used a website that worked well. PLease revert to the old version asap, otherwise I may have consider my options.

• Sep 12,2012 at 06:19

Very bad.
I can’t see my wantlist at the seller, I can not see a condition of LPs.It is too much clicks. Very difficult. Do simpler.
Return former design

• Sep 12,2012 at 06:06

If not restored website usability (pictures, condition), neither I nor any of my friends, there is nothing we will not buy.

• Sep 12,2012 at 06:04

Usually when working with online business you to reduce the amount of clicks before you get a clear picture of the item you are interested in buying. You guys seem to be doing the opposite. Grading in the list view would be a good start.

• Sep 12,2012 at 05:58

This is terrible, the old design was incredibly better and easier to read, please don’t fix something that works fine.

• Sep 12,2012 at 02:48

When clicking on a seller, to check the records a seller have that I have in my wantlist, the list of records doesn’t include media condition anymore. I need to click on each record just to check the condition of every single record! This is NOT good!! Please make the list as it used to be, where the condition was visible in the list.

• Sep 12,2012 at 02:33

Why do you pay people to change things that work perfectly ok….. it was so easy to list, browse etc please stop changing the site it is not fun to work with as it is today…… true people dont like change but where it is needed fine….. but none of the changes to the look are needed it was Sweet before and very easy to list now its a mish mash…… our fees will end up going up to pay for these changes no doubt and you will end up losing money, the site is sadly being spoiled……………….

• Sep 12,2012 at 02:27

very slow to list items in the marketplace now , please go back to having all info on the one page , i find ebay as quick now . the advantage of discogs WAS quick listing . . . not anymore .

• Sep 11,2012 at 15:42

NO GOOD !
Cant even search through sellers music by genres ….
Shame was gonna buy some tunes tonight, well saved me a bit of cash….

• Sep 11,2012 at 15:06

The previous version was much better, and now ‘total chaos, kkkkkkaaaaaaooossssssss, bring back the old Discogs
La versione precedente era nettamente migliore, adesso e’ il caos totale, kkkkkkaaaaaaooossssssss, ridateci il vecchio discogs

• Sep 11,2012 at 14:32

not sure why you would remove info from sales page, makes it extremely uncomfortable to try and buy something.

• Sep 11,2012 at 14:12

It’s the 2nd day of the ‘test’ now and “…what this means for you” is that I still cannot access my account. Site lets me log in, but whenever I try to do anything regarding my account (want-list, cart, purchase history, feedback, etc.) It kicks me off and says I need to log-in.

This is positively crippling – is anyone else still having these problems?

Will somebody please fix this!!!!

• Sep 11,2012 at 12:51

Rather than making changes to a live site, many of which are confusing and unnecessary, maybe you could have made a beta site on a separate URL, and invited some hardcore users to test changes on that?

Did you talk to any of your users before you started making these changes??

• Sep 11,2012 at 12:29

Item condition info shows in some views (available copies of a particular release), but not in others (available releases by a particular artist, for example). It is nonsensical and extremely irritating to show price but not the item condition on the first page. Also, to be able to sort by condition, but for that information not to be viewable on the first page is perfectly absurd.

• Sep 11,2012 at 11:38

I can’t see the condition of vinyl records while i’m choosing one to buy.
It’s very inconvinient and annoying to click on every release to see its condition.
And another annoying thing – when I add a record to my cart I DON’T want to go to my cart, I WANT to continue shopping )
And I like bigger records’ images!

• Sep 11,2012 at 11:25

This is my third comment on here so please get something sorted soon.I now cannot once picking the format of vinyl ask for the list of 7″. It just gives me all the vinyl.Getting beyond a laugh now.Still no media condition/sleeve condition on sellers pages. Please go back to the old format before all is lost.I do though like the new sellers page once you get there, it seems better spaced out, but that is the only improvement i can see so far

• Sep 11,2012 at 10:54

You’ve taken the cover pictures away from the listings as I see in my store and in general. The nice thing about the other design was that you could identify titles by the cover! You could ALMOST have a real RECORD STORE experience & you’ve taken that away!

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!!! Ouch on this design, disappointing!

• Sep 11,2012 at 10:46

Sellers name is VERY important! Too much lousy sellers or even bootleggers, whose stuff I avoid at any cost!

• IDZ
Sep 11,2012 at 09:59

..and add the sign with how much records from my want list this seller have….
add conditions too

• Sep 11,2012 at 09:58

Discogs: please ensure that whatever format you decide for (from the buyers perspective at any rate) that a picture of the cover, a grade, the price, and the name of the seller is all visible upon viewing of matches found to want-list. The format you have used until now is perfectly good! Iw would only suggest you make it possible to filter out certain sellers when searching.

Sep 11,2012 at 09:57

i need to see the seller name in each listing–very important thing!!! please.

• Sep 11,2012 at 09:43

please return to the old version

• Sep 11,2012 at 09:31

Thank you for trying to improve Discogs but…
No grading in the main page? Do you think I have the time to click on every item to see the grading? And the cover picture is way too big.
Sorry but this isn’t in any way an improvement… The old design had just anything we needed! Anyway, I wont be buying any more records with this design and this is a shame…

• Sep 11,2012 at 09:26

Please return to the old version

• Sep 11,2012 at 07:58

Discogs: please ensure that whatever format you decide for (from the buyers perspective at any rate) that a picture of the cover, a grade, the price, and the name of the seller is all visible upon viewing of matches found to want-list. • Sep 11,2012 at 07:28

these updates every week make me sick. such a easy-view in the past and now it looks more like other sites (boomkat or so) but not better. please stop it.
can’t see what i want from seller also ..
everytime it logs me out automaticly, i don’t know why?

• Sep 11,2012 at 06:20

This is a nightmare. So many dead ends, so many problems i dont know ehere to begin…. Is it really necessary to test these layouts “live”….its causing so much confusion. nothing in any updated page layouts ive seen are an improvement over the old. You guys are coming off as unprofessional with all this….i love discogs, but by christ i wont be buying anything until something is sorted.

• Sep 11,2012 at 06:15

Absolutely god awful and confusing. I have been an active buying member for 2 years and can’t even get in now to a record of my purchases. My log in data continues to be rejected. Why do you have to fix something that’s not broken? dekert

• Sep 11,2012 at 04:28

I don’t like the new layout of the Marketplace.
There is way too much information which I initially don’t need.
Plus where is are the gradings of the cover/record ?
Essential for almost every collector

• Sep 11,2012 at 04:25 But if i look all seller list and there are not only items from my wishlist, but i don’t want to see items with poor or fair condition .. now it is impossible.

• Sep 11,2012 at 03:57

Agree on most of the previous comments: The old layout is much better than what I have seen of the new so far.
If changes will be done anyway: Pictures MUST be shown !!

One want : Possibility to combine for the filters, like “show both Rock AND Jazz”, or “show Less than $5 AND $5-10 AND $10-15”

• Sep 11,2012 at 03:22

Please return to the old layout of the pages, it was much better.

• Sep 11,2012 at 03:19

Una mierda. Go back to the previous look and leave it please, it was fine

• Sep 11,2012 at 03:16

I really like the big main picture associated with the release, this is way more attractive than the previous version. If you can add the grading and the complete inventory of the seller not just the first 100 items, I think this is a major improve. Congrats!

• Sep 11,2012 at 02:56

In seller’s list each item takes too much height. And at same time we have a lot of empty space at right side. Price and “Buy” button could be there.
No grading. No seller’s comments.
“Rated 4.14 121 have 75 want” — not sure it need to be here.

• Sep 11,2012 at 02:53

It will be good to add filter for media condition when browsing marketplace … not like now, that i can choose only one condition … I mean .. filter for possibility NOT to show medias with poor and fair condition for example.

• Sep 11,2012 at 02:17

Think you forgot to add the media conditions on the “My wants for sale” page … this should be must have..

• Sep 11,2012 at 01:25

quite confusing right now
no grading…
too much info visible
can’t see if the seller is offering more from my wantlist

• Sep 11,2012 at 01:25

Now getting logged out every time I go to marketplace. Trying to buy a few items but won’t allow it. Shame as this had become my ideal site for music purchases. Please fix this soon.

• Sep 11,2012 at 00:17

I cannot add anything to the cart
It keeps making me log in and its just not working

• Sep 10,2012 at 23:52

no grading shown in lists. also the sometimes very useful comments by sellers are gone. and that seems to be the tip of the iceberg.
of course you can raise prices for a product (discogs for sellers) and then make lots of changes that make the product worse, but please understand that people won’t love you for that….

• Sep 10,2012 at 21:10

Not displayed conditions to Buyer’s “for sale” page.
I prefer the old version.

• Sep 10,2012 at 20:49

Unable to understand this. The page looks like chaos now.

• Sep 10,2012 at 20:24

No covers, pretty difficult to see the releases.
I hope you guys go back to the way it was

• Sep 10,2012 at 19:15

Not only does it keep logging me out, but I cannot access my shopping cart or purchase history. I need to leave feedback for items that finally arrived today after being delayed in the post. Sellers are waiting to hear if items have arrived and I cannot provide feedback!

Agree with previous comments: function over form in a database is paramount – quit screwing it up!

• Sep 10,2012 at 18:33

Keeps log-in me out everytime I go to the marketplace.

• Sep 10,2012 at 17:07

Each lisitng takes too much space on the screen, hard to focuse on the “Want list”, less items visible on “one screen” ….instead of all those upgrades you should allow us to remove certain sellers, who constantly un-list and list their for sale items from, the sellers list that appear on the screen.

• Sep 10,2012 at 16:14

What have you done and why? why? keep screwing around with the look, just leave it, I cant even see the labels of the record listings. I got sick of browsing my favorite sellers page and dumped it. Go back to the previous look and leave it please, it was fine. No Vista, half cooked looks, please we were fine with it.

• Sep 10,2012 at 14:30

Tried to look through things again. No pictures, no information on record conditions and it will only allow you to look at 35 items at a time before changing page which once again is no use when there are 1000s of singles to look through.I will stay on and try again in a while but if it can’t be rectified it won’t be for me, shame as I’d just started using marketplace and found it really good and easy to use.

• Sep 10,2012 at 14:17

It is not allowing me to look at any more than 1 page of 100 items on a persons for sale page.Sorry but that is no use if the person has over 1500 singles listed. Please go back to the old version.

• Sep 10,2012 at 13:48

Can’t see items for sale in my Wants List – keeps logging me out.

Also, the new layout of the seller page doesn’t look great.

• Sep 10,2012 at 13:43

No covers visible.

• Sep 10,2012 at 13:38

Hard to list items. Pretty much only text is displayed.

• Sep 10,2012 at 13:32

struggling with new set up can not seem to be able to listen to any releases to see if what i am searching is what i am looking for
