Happy New Year! We know most of you will be recovering from the New Year’s Eve celebration but, while we leave a superb year for music behind, now it’s time to start thinking on 2018!

And what a year we have ahead! With new releases announced by many Discogs favorites, we are already biting our nails while waiting to be able to listen to all these new records.

Just for you to have a sneak peek before scrolling down, 2018 will be bringing us new records by Tool, My Bloody Valentine, or MGMT, just to name a few!

Here, we present you the most anticipated records of 2018 by the Discogs staff. What’s the record you are looking forward the most?

Most Anticipated Records 2018: Nils Frahm - All Melody

Nils Frahm, “All Melody.” Already have tickets to see him in Portland in April!

– Josh, Community Success Manager

Most Anticipated Records 2018: Cowboy Junkies

Looks like Cowboy Junkies have a new album coming out in 2018. That’s cool! Their sound always compliments the rainy days here in Portland!

– Tasha, Community Success Manager

Most anticipated records of 2018: OM

OM! Do I need to explain myself? This is my favourite doom metal band (stoner? drone? mantradoom? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) and I have not been able to see them live yet, however they are doing sporadic tours in EU and the US. They have not recorded any new material in more than 5 years, is not 12 years like TOOL but, come on! I definitely need more! Because no matter the changes on the drummer which both have shown high skills on their own way, or adding Robert Lowe to the equation, this band blows my mind whatever they do. Raise your hands to Bass God Al Cisneros! Their sound is so meditative, powerful, relaxing and intense at the same time, I just need more. I hope they finally give us something, SOMETHING!

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: Tune-Yards

tUnE-yArDs – “I Can Feel You Creep Into My Private Life”

I saw tUnE-yArDs play on the weekend at Le Guess Who Festival in Utrecht, NL and they played a lot of new tracks from this upcoming release and I really enjoyed the show. Think it is coming out in Jan. I also heard The Go! Team are coming back with a release in 2018 – curious to hear what their new stuff is like.

– Claire, Managing Director of Operations

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: Chromatics - Dear Tommy

While I’m also part of the My Bloody Valentine team (excited about it is such an understatement), 2018 looks brilliant! If I have to go for a sencond option, I’m crossing my firnders that 2018 is finally the year when Chromatics stop torturing us and finally release the long-awaited “Dear Tommy”.

– Javi, Content Marketing and Social Media Specialist

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: My Bloody Valentine

MY BLOODY VALENTINE ALL DAY LONG! I almost had an aneurysm when i saw they have a new album slated for next year. Their most recent album, m b v really held it’s own against their early stuff, so i have high hopes for this one too.

– Jess, Search Engine Marketeer

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: Cherubs

I hear Cherubs might be working on a new record. Maybe this means we’ll finally get a vinyl reissue of Heroin Man that normal people can buy. Haze, are you listening? *taps mic*

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: MGMT

There aren’t really any announced 2018 releases that have me excited like there were for 2017. I am curious to hear MGMT’s coming album though. After their last album, I had kind of written them off, assuming they were destined to purposefully wallow in obscurity, forever hating the spotlight. Their latest single, “Little Dark Age”, has me thinking maybe they’ll try to find a balance between pop sensibilities and alternative approaches. I’m curious to hear the results!

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: Wild Child - Expectations

I’m excited for the next release from Wild Child! This Austin City, indie pop band’s fourth album, “Expectations”, will be released on February 9th.

– Kirsten, Product Owner

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: DJ Premier

DJ Premier / Last Session @ 320

I haven’t been able to check many upcoming releases in 2018 so far, but definitely I can’t sleep on Premo’s new album! He’s produced a lot of artists and had his projects, but this will be the his first solo album. He mentioned that it will feature Snoop Dogg, Nas, Dr Dre, Ed Sheeran, and more! I’m so sad for closing of his legendary D&D Studios but hope that this album will open up his new history.

– Hiro, Regional Community Marketing Lead

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: Aretha Franklin

Back in July, there was an announcement that Aretha Franklin was working on a new studio album with Stevie Wonder and Elton John, and that it was supposed to be released this January, but apart from that announcement, I haven’t heard anything about it. Curious to hear more!

– Lilian, Regional Community Marketing Lead

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: BRMC

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Wrong Creatures

Stoked to hear this one beyond the initial single, but I have one question… where the hell is the vinyl pre-order guys? This thing is coming January 12… get on it!

– Jeffrey, PR

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: Chuwanaga

For 2018, two labels have stuck with me. First of all, the new-born Paris based label called Chuwanaga, they recently released a wonderful britfunk compilation and they have reissues and releases on the way. Go, go chuwanaga! The second one is already around for a few years, it is called Melodies International and is lead by international producer Floating Points. They have released gems that many collectionners dreamt of seeing in Fair condition and the adventure will continue! Don’t sleep on it…

– Clim, Customer Success Coordinator

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: Erased Tapes

I will be keeping my eye out for anything released on the Erased Tapes label, to which I’m late to the party, but very excited about in general. Also heard Nils Frahm will be releasing a new record, and he is performing in March and I’m looking forward to that!

– Jon S, Systems Engineer

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: Glen Hansard

Glen Hansard – Between Two Shores

I am ready for some tears and goosebumps. Just booked a ticket for his European tour and am looking very much forward to seeing him live (again) and listen to his new album.

– Barbara, Community Success Coordinator

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: Tool

TOOL! 12 years since the last release is a lot of time. At this time, they could either release a masterpiece or a bad album, but I have great expectations from it! First reviews are also great.

– Luca, Community Success Coordinator

Most Anticipated Records of 2018: The Prodigy

I heard The Prodigy is releasing a new album! I don't know what else to say except... infinite excitement!!
