Discogs Team: Meet Corey!

Hi there! Welcome to the Discogs Team! Do you mind introducing yourself?
Hey, my name is Corey. I’m originally from Chicago and new to Portland but I am loving the Pacific Northwest. I enjoy writing code and collecting records.
Tell us a bit about your development background.
I come from a .NET background primarily, working on business data applications for small to medium sized businesses. I also have experience building web applications using PHP and MySQL, and I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge of open source technolgies.
Do you have any fun side projects or favorite developer things you’d like to share?
I created the unofficial Discogs Social Buttons, which may or may not be released officially at some point.
When you’re not programming, how do you like to spend your time?
When i’m not programming, I’m usually hunting for records. I also have a passion for cooking and traveling.
If you had to choose an artist / release to listen to on repeat, who or what would it be?
This is seriously tough, right now its Groove Armada – Superstylin. Ask me in 10 minutes and this will change.
Do you collect or create music? If so, tell us about it!
I’ve been collecting music since I discovered the internet, although i’ve retired my digital collection since discovering vinyl. I used to DJ at a lot of parties back in Chicago and I’ve been collecting records for about 5 years now. If there was anymore time in a day, I’d spend it sampling my vinyl to build up a sample collection to use if I ever get into music production.
What are you looking forward to as you settle in at Discogs?
Contributing to the worlds biggest and most comprehensive music database and marketplace!
Thanks, Corey! We’re stoked to have you!
