Top 30 Most Expensive Items Sold on Discogs in June 2021

Discogs is back with another monthly breakdown of the most expensive vinyl, cassettes, and CDs sold in the Discogs Marketplace. The rankings regularly feature classic bands such as the Grateful Dead, KISS, Pearl Jam, and Genesis.

However, this edition surfaces an interesting trend among the records — and it’s not the genre or the era. There are not one, but two Banksy-illustrated album covers on the list of most expensive items sold in June. At No. 13 is Dirty Funker’s Flat Beat, a 12-inch record featuring four mixes of the title electronic song. And at No. 3 is We Love You … So Love Us, a limited-edition compilation. When releases like these appear, we also wonder what’s more collectible — the vinyl or the cover?

Another record that caught our eye stands at No. 10. There are supposedly only six of these in existence, only four of which have been claimed by collectors. The Boards of Canada 12-inch was quietly dropped on Record Store Day 2013 purely as a promotional stunt. The actual record contains mostly dead space, a really short clip of music, and someone reading the numbers “936557” aloud. Its scarcity and corresponding price tag make it one of the most expensive RSD releases of all time.
