Our regular roundup of the most popular new albums is determined by how many Discogs users added the release to their Collections during each month. To be featured on the genre-specific lists, the album must have been released in 2021 in a physical format (meaning vinyl, CD, or cassette), so it won’t take into consideration digital streams. We also included EPs.
However, the first edition of 2021 kicked things off with a lot of interesting finds. Since most big-name artists haven’t released their new work yet, there was plenty of room for “smaller” artists. February continues that trend except in the rock category, which boasts acts such as Foo Fighters, Weezer, The White Stripes, Mogwai, and Julien Baker.
What are we listening to? Everything, which is exactly what we said in January, too. This is the time to explore new genres and artists that you may not be familiar with. We took a particular liking to the pop chart because it does not sound like your typical radio play.
