The Most Popular New Albums in July 2021 by Genre

Our regular roundup of the most popular new albums is determined by how many Discogs users added the release to their Collections throughout each month. To be featured on the genre-specific lists, the album must have been released in 2021 in a physical format (vinyl, CD, or cassette), so it won’t take into consideration digital streams.

This summer, collectors witnessed not just one, but two drops of Record Store Day on June 12 and July 17. New RSD releases that made it on the July lists include the Foo Fighters’ Bee Gees cover project Hail Satin, a live box set of the late John Prine, Haim’s Gasoline single featuring a B-side with Taylor Swift, and a new Miles Davis compilation. And these are just the titles that have made it into people’s Collections — even more releases are exchanging hands in the Discogs Marketplace.

What are we listening to? The brand-new Leon Bridges record, Gold-Diggers Sound. If you’re craving smooth R&B, you can’t go wrong with Leon Bridges, who is coming off a hot year on Discogs thanks to a collab with fellow Texan artists Khruangbin.
