The Most Popular New Albums on Discogs in March 2021

Our regular roundup of the most popular new albums is determined by how many Discogs users added the release to their Collections throughout each month. To be featured on the genre-specific lists, the album must have been released in 2021 in a physical format (meaning vinyl, CD, or cassette), so it won’t take into consideration digital streams.

The first two editions of 2021 (January and February) kicked things off with a wonderful lineup of fascinating finds. Since we’re only three months into the year, many big-name bands haven’t released new work yet, which leaves plenty of room for “smaller” artists. What this really means is that Discogs users have eclectic taste, and it shows when these rankings aren’t dominated by Top 40 hits.

That being said, we’re starting to see some of those big names trickle in. Foo Fighters, Lana Del Ray, Kings of Leon, Weezer, Stereolab, Steve Earle, and Alice Cooper are just a few of the folks that have graced us with early 2021 releases.

What are we listening to? Well, we’re not actually listening to it, but Paul Stanley of KISS fame released a soul album. Just thought you ought to know.

However, we do recommend checking out the albums from Celeste, Jon Batiste, and Lake Street Dive.
