Record Store Day 2022

Record Store Day 2022 Was a Triumph in Stores and Online

Record Store Day 2022 was a celebration for the ages. With COVID-19 restrictions being lifted in most places, the annual event’s focus of bringing more people into record stores was back in full swing. According to shops like Portland, Oregon’s Music Millennium, it was one of the single most successful days in their 53-year history. It would be easy to assume that scores of in-person shoppers would lead to fewer online sales this year. In reality, the numbers show that the excitement seen in-store across the globe continued online in the Discogs Marketplace over RSD weekend.

Orders in the Discogs Marketplace

The number of orders and items purchased accounted for some of the highest Record Store Day weekend sales figures seen since 2019. With almost 62,000 orders placed and over 105,000 items purchased, vinyl enthusiasts are continuing to celebrate record store culture on Discogs.

So what have people been buying? Here’s a quick glimpse of the top-selling RSD titles found in the Discogs Marketplace.

Let’s Talk About The Lakes

Interestingly enough, Taylor Swift’s RSD 7-inch doesn’t top the trending release list, even though it’s the highest-selling item from the April event. It has also amassed enough Wantlist additions to be recognized as one of the most coveted RSD releases in the Marketplace. The 10,000 copies may be a large pressing for a Record Store Day title, but it’s small when considering the legions of T-Swift fans all over the world.

About the Data

  • Orders include at least one vinyl record.
