We’re currently having some problems with our main database server. It’s now handling around 7,000 queries per second at peak times! That has grown quite a bit from the 1,000 qps from a few years ago.
We recognize this is an inconvenience for those of you who use Discogs daily and we’re working hard to resolve these issues. Right now we’re in the process of moving from one database server to four servers (the hardware is already installed). We anticipate it to take 2-3 more days to complete the first part of the changes, then an additional week to complete the rest of the changes.
Update: we’ve been working on improvements and it should be better now. See the next post for details.
