The last Top 30 of the decade doesn’t disappoint.
We all know how December is always the month when everyone decides to spend big bucks, and Discogs isn’t an exception. It’s pretty crazy to see how 27 of these items went for $1,500 or higher. And here I am, welcoming January’s paycheck as if I have never seen money before.
Focusing on the list, the first thing that struck me is something I’ve never seen before: the same artist opening and closing the chart. What a coincidence! And as you can see, it’s a band that needs no introduction for the Discogs Community. What’s new about that box set is the price tag, this time around marks the highest price that’s ever been paid on Discogs for it.
In the second position, you’ll find a Funk / Soul single (surprise!) that contains quite a tune, I’ve been listening to it on repeat the whole morning and you should do exactly the same while you read this article:
If you keep digging the list, in number 15 you’ll find a record whose cover will probably make you cringe, especially given the circumstances that have surrounded that artist in 2019. Oh! And make sure to avoid number 24 if you’re reading us in your work computer, that artwork is not what you want your boss to catch you looking at.
I don’t want to distract you any longer from what you’re here for. With you, the last Top 30 of the 2010s:
PS: We’ll be waiting for those comments about the Misfits being in this list.

Where are we getting the “Sold for” prices from?
I assume, as the title suggests, in the Discogs Marketplace.
Just looking at The Dark Side Of The Moon here, the sale price of $2776.00 is not reflected in the Statistics for that album. Nothing even close to that figure.
I have checked a couple others here at random and the prices seem to match.
Can anyone shed some light as to why the stats are out?
Hi ubc9000xlt,
The sales history on the release page only shows the most recent 10 transactions, so if the release on this list sold more than 10 transactions ago it will no longer be viewable there. Hope this helps answer your question.
Really enjoy this monthly Blog about most expensive items
As a seller this information is MOST useful to me. I have over 100,000 vinyl records and only a few seconds to sort each for pricing. As a collector this information is also valuable: I love the Tudor Lodge album. But perhaps will not hold my breath to find a perfect first pressing at this price. So the point of all this is money and love!
Stoked to see NoFX on the list. I sing that song to myself almost daily. Waiting in lines…
Why is this not included in the list:
https://www.discogs.com/A-Bomb-Hells-Story/release/3041542
It sold for +2000 €!!!
Looked into this – our code only finds transactions that have finalized seller’s fees. Since this order has not been finalized, it did not show up in the report.
The first pressing Alice Coltrane “Ptah, the El Daoud” is surprising on one level, but it was also purportedly a promo marked copy from old store stock that contained other white label promo Impulse! issues, so if that copy was a wlp that’s not in the Discogs database as of yet, it makes more sense. The Coltrane/Pharoah Sanders (with Joe Henderson to boot) is all rising to much higher heights, and collectors are nabbing all of those originals. If I could tell you how many copies of the Rodriguez Sussex LPs I’ve had over the years for next to nothing, and now they have vanished and go for hundreds of dollars. Thinking about it that way makes the Alice Coltrane sale a little more understandable. But I agree – it’s high. But maybe in a few more years it won’t seem that way as OGs all but disappear in nice condition.
$1,500 for a copy of Alice Coltrane’s Ptah, The El Daoud? Ridiculous, even for a sealed copy. $300 tops. Also, what make the Dark Side Of The Moon expensive? You guys should editorialize this list before publishing.
Sponsored by Atlantic and EMI, Queen and LedZeppelin.
only business people buying expensive records.
on christmas.
Ah, no classical this month.
Heyy, could you put youtube links next to each record, especially the rare ones? That would save so much time for many of us. :)
Cheers
The only few people interested in ‘most expensive’ records sold. Why it’s a point for the blog again and again? Bored…
Well, technically, decades and centuries begin only in it’s first years (2000 = 20th century; 2001 = 21th century) and end in the last year (2000, 2010, 2020…). So, the decade is not over (2011-2020) and will only end on 12/31/2020.
Is there any way to do the top 50 albums? I really enjoy this so more would be amazing.
RE: EP NoFX Sonic jezuz: The first 200 copies of this record were printed on dark-blue vinyl, some on grey vinyl, and all others on black vinyl.
Estaría bueno algún comentario sobre el por qué del precio de alguno de los títulos de la lista. La edición censurada de los Beatles es imaginable, pero por ejemplo el EP de NoFX se puede encontrar para la venta desde 15 dólares.
