Record collecting is a weird science. Our monthly Top 30 is strong evidence of that.
Let’s jump directly into the details. Some months we see that the most expensive item is by a non-famous artist or band, and some others you will see one of the best selling bands of all time crowning the list. While punk and hardcore were genres with an emphasis on cheap and DIY production, we’ve been seeing them fill the most-expensive items sold lists for quite a few months now. Which, you know, is good news for the kids hanging out back in the day at Agnostic Front and The Saints gigs. On that note, always try to buy records directly from artists at concerts. Aside from directly supporting the artists, they often offer rare releases that will appreciate.
Focusing on artists that we have been seeing around lately and which are always a safe bet, you’ll get your monthly dose of The Beatles, Joy Division, The Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, and Black Sabbath…seems like they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Psychedelic rock, Funk / Soul 7”s, and a couple of records in the Top 3 this month that we would definitely want to hear more about. Find out about these rare records and much more on this list. Oh! And scroll down to the bottom of this article to find out about the most expensive item sold on Discogs in February 2018.
Disclaimer: At number 17 you’ll find a cover with a picture of Hitler. While we understand this might seem inappropriate, this is the original artwork from the band and we have decided to show it as it appears in the Database. Just to make it completely clear, this band didn’t support in any way this ideology.

[…] 3月のハイライトに移る前に、一つ報告させて頂きたい事があります。諸所理由で2月の高額取引レコードリストに入らなかったのですが、本来は入るべき一枚がありました。それは Freddie Chavez – Baby I’m Sorry / They’ll Never Know Whyで、1,492.38ポンド (取引された日の為替レートで、およそ1,800ドル!) で取引された高額レコードです。このレコードの名誉の為に、今回報告させて頂きました。 […]
[…] went down in March, we would like to make an honorable mention to a record that wasn’t in our February’s most expensive items list because of technical reasons, but that should have been there. We are speaking about a copy of […]
The Joy Division Unknown Pleasures LP sold here wasn’t even the earliest pressing, but it was signed by Ian Curtis, Peter Hook and Bernard Albrecht (aka Sumner). I guess someone figured the autographs added about $1450 to the value of the disc.
As per comment in the sales history:
Signed by Ian Curtis, Bernard Albrecht (Sumner) and Stephen Morris
Why was Joy Division sold for that amount of money ? There are some other in NM conditions for much less, can anyone explain ?
lol at the Hitler trigger warning. No one grows up anymore.
