Top 30 Most Expensive Items Sold In Discogs Marketplace For November 2018

It’s happening again! Just one year ago, we shared the news that a copy of Sex Pistols’ God Save The Queen went for the outrageous amount of $14,690. At the time, it set a record for the most expensive single ever sold on Discogs. Fast forward to November 2018 and here we are with another copy of the same single selling for $15,822! This marks the seventh sale on Discogs of over $10,000 — a trend we investigated recently, which doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

That’s not all. While it falls well below the record-setting copy of The Black Album, this single is officially the most expensive 7″ ever sold on Discogs! The previous record holder was a single by Lennon and McArtney (sic) from October 2017.

With 29 more releases in the list, the God Save The Queen sale isn’t the only interesting thing that happened in November 2018. You’ll find not one, but two releases from the late punk provocateur GG Allin. Few musicians are as divisive and infamous as Allin. He made those rinky dink Sex Pistols look like The Monkees. If you don’t know why, you should probably look him up yourself. Just don’t do it at the dinner table. Pink Floid (sic) are back as well, showing once again that misprints of famous artists are sought after.

We prefer to keep it short and sweet otherwise and not tell you what you already know. Expect some black metal here and there, unique funk and soul singles, and Bob Dylan. Business as usual. Dig in!

Its fascinating that certain records are worth so much.i have a couple of items that i only paid less than £2 for and are now worth around £500.

Kudos on the GG records. These recordings as well as the Gimme Some Head 7″ are GG in his prime. Wayne Kramer from MC5 played guitar on the Gimme 7″ and is some smoking guitar playing. I saw GG Allin and the Murder Junkies in Florida on 11 /18/1991 and it was a very bloody show…

Who gives a shit if its punk or not to put up such an amount. The one that bought it probably dont have money issues.

  • Jan 14,2019 at 6:02 pm

More money than sense?… Maybe……….. He/she bought it because they can. the person that’s had the last laugh is the one that sold it.

  • Jan 14,2019 at 4:39 pm

A real punk would have stolen the record.

  • Jan 13,2019 at 4:51 pm

Humanity is corrupt, it’s as simple as that; and yes SUPER punk to pay $15000 for a punk record or any record really. I can just imagine the douche that bought this. Complete joke!

    Heres what they say…
Original pressing UK. Dress cover, drag cover. Record number 6338041. Tony Visconti misspelled as Tonny Visconti. Some marks on sleeve. Vinyl looks great.

    So its Tonny!!

Why does the “David Bowie” record costs so much money? Is it because of its cover? Label? I’m new to this things and i’m curious

  • Jan 12,2019 at 12:14 am

Literally the least punk thing ever…

  • Jan 11,2019 at 4:57 pm

i’m sitting here wondering how fans of GG Allin can afford… a place to have a record player with which to listen to a record for which they paid that much money. haha

  • Jan 11,2019 at 12:04 am

This is proof that some people have way too much money. The most I’ve ever paid for a 7in Single was $225.00 USD, for a rare copy from The Smiths.
https://www.discogs.com/The-Smiths-William-It-Was-Really-Nothing/release/8042506 . I don’t know what it’s worth, and it was a spontaneous purchase. But it’s very rare. I wouldn’t buy it now for that much as I wish I hadn’t spent as much on a 7in single now!
