September was a rough time for some, better time for others. We saw the unfortunate departure of Walter Becker from this earth, resulting in fans wishing to reconnect with his music during that time. September also saw a new release from The National and Kieran Hebdan which saw them ascend our best selling records list for the month. Otherwise, the usual gaggle of regulars fill out the rest of the month’s list.
This month, I rewrote the code that I use to make the Top 50. When I first started this project last year, it took me the better part of a month to figure out how to get it to work right, with a good deal of manual labor involved for some of the parts I was less adept at.
The new Top 50 code took me a day to rewrite and solves some of those problems! It also addressed a small bug I introduced this past spring to not really fully understanding how dates work that would have fallen apart sometime next February, as the month before January is not the 99th month of the previous year. Because this date grouping code is slightly different from the old stuff, I’ve also cleared the previous chart positions for this month’s post. While the overall differences were very slim, there were some slight date range calculation differences that I felt were enough to consider it worthy of something of a fresh start.
Next month you’ll also hear from a fresh voice on this list as I take on a slightly different focus! Stay tuned and check out these slabs of wax in our marketplace today!
