Updated Search Results

We’ve just made a few changes to the search results page:
Added a thumbnail next to each result, if available
Label and Catalog# are now displayed with Release results
Collection/Wantlist/Favorites indicators are displayed to the right of each search result
It’s now possible to add or remove from your Collection/Wantlist/Favorites from the search results, and also add something to a List.

    Guess this never got fixed?

  • Jun 30,2009 at 16:52
I thought this might just be a matter of the search results being out of date, but if I search for the full name I get these results:

Search all: gloriette records – label is 1st result

Search all: gloriette – label does not appear in results

Search labels: gloriette records – label is only result but the message “Your search returned no results” also appears

Search labels: gloriette – no results
Strangely, this search works sometimes now… maybe about 1/2 of the time.
Is the good old ‘outdated search results’ bug eliminated with this also?
Nope.

Is the good old ‘outdated search results’ bug eliminated with this also?

Been using the site for 5 years and the search function still can’t find R & S Records.

Plus the frequency of server errors has gone up about tenfold since this change was introduced.

    like [u=MR_E]
having the same problems with searching parts of names too.
    using Firefox 3.xx

but like the new displaying – definitly an advantage

  • Jun 26,2009 at 10:10

The layout problem appears (for me) only in the exact matches, the search results below that display correctly.
No, Firefox 3.0.11 on OSX 10.4.11
My Firefox 3.0.11 shows them correctly. But then, I have Windows.

  • Jun 26,2009 at 09:34
Are you using Safari?
No, Firefox 3.0.11 on OSX 10.4.11
Are you using Safari? That sounds like a bug we found with Safari not rendering LI’s properly. We’re not sure what can be done about it but we’re looking.
Indeed, I’ve got the same display bug on both Opera and Safari, as just described above.

  • Jun 26,2009 at 07:40

Updated Search Results do not work in Opera correctly: http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/3567/20090626183754.jpg
    Please fix it!

  • Jun 25,2009 at 22:20

I don’t really like it. Give us an option in refs to have it on or off please.

    Thanks.

We’re also looking into the search examples you mentioned.

The indentation does look pretty weird — in some cases the images are covering the result number, as in the John Smith example cited above, see the #17 line there. Line #1 has the image between the number and the result, but #16 and #23 have the image below the number.

There might be a bug now in the search engine.
Last night, while I used the search, I tried to find as per release, but it still searches, as i had the Search all option selected.

  • Jun 25,2009 at 14:17

I thought this might just be a matter of the search results being out of date, but if I search for the full name I get these results:

Search all: gloriette records – label is 1st result

Search all: gloriette – label does not appear in results

Search labels: gloriette records – label is only result but the message “Your search returned no results” also appears

Search labels: gloriette – no results

  • Jun 25,2009 at 10:33

If I enter a partial label name ie gloriette

Gloriette Records does not appear in the search results

  • Jun 25,2009 at 05:47

    All good. :D
Wow! You guys are COOKING lately… what’s going on?
Well all this co-incides with an extra pair of hands being taken on board in the shape of [u=moob] so it could at least partially be down to him :D

Do whatever you want, but don’t touch ratings bar :D

  • Jun 25,2009 at 01:03

The indentation of exact matches looks weird if there’s many matches, like with John Smith:
    http://www.discogs.com/search?type=all&q=john+smith&btn=Search

I think I just need getting used to that too.

  • Jun 25,2009 at 00:37

    Excellent!!!

  • Jun 24,2009 at 23:36

Certainly makes the search results easier to check! Thanks for this

Though, can some marker be added at master releases? Or a search option for master releases only?

  • Jun 24,2009 at 21:07

Fantastic! Looks great and very helpful.

  • Jun 24,2009 at 20:47

A definite improvement – I’d still like some order to search results, though – relevancy is good;p

  • Jun 24,2009 at 19:43

I like the change. It was weird at first though. LOL.

  • Jun 24,2009 at 16:10

Wow! You guys are COOKING lately… what’s going on?

Looks good, nice ‘n fast as well.
The “Exact Matches” and the remaining search results could do with a horizontal line or some other more pronounced separator between them.
Agreed.
* It’s now possible to add or remove from your Collection/Wantlist/Favorites from the search results, and also add something to a List.
Add “Add to watchlist” perhaps?

  • Jun 24,2009 at 15:53

I just discovered that. Looks good.

The “Exact Matches” and the remaining search results could do with a horizontal line or some other more pronounced separator between them.

  • Jun 24,2009 at 15:38

    Very nice teo! Good work!

  • Jun 24,2009 at 15:22
