Year on Label page

Tiny change, we just added the year to the label page. It’s in the rightmost column.

However adding country to artist pages would be very very very helpful:)

    VERY handy update, thanks! :)

The implementation of Shadow Cat# ( http://wiki.discogs.com/index.php/LazloCatalogSortTechnique ) I believe would result in an extra field being stored on the release, I don’t think it would happen ‘live’ every time a release cat# was displayed, so I don’t think there would be any slowdown due to that.

All true, but this is still a bug.. also in many languages.. (not only here)
I think the focus should be on “smart sorting” thing to fix this
Sure.. this need a bit of programming, but i think this implemetation could affect the time of response of the pages. (personally i’ve had a similar problem at work, but the time of response of the program increased)

I think it’s only a display issue / background thing that the releases are showed in the incorrect order. IMO, with the current idea “store data as listed on the release” we should not add extra spaces anymore either (as it’s stored with 2 spaces in the database, only they’re not displayed because of the html)

Therefore, I think the focus should be on “smart sorting” thing to fix this, not anymore on adjusting the data (especially since they’re hard to find later as they’re not displayed)

    [u=teo] what about

PLEASE NOTE: If you are submitting releases with three digits after the MIX/CD/LP portion of the catalogue number (i.e. between releases #100 and #999), please be sure to insert two spaces between MIX/CD/LP and XXX to ensure that it sorts properly on the label page.

I’ve written it, some months ago, on the discomagic records page, this is not against rules (the space isn’t shown) and it’s a bug of the language (in math 2 is before 10….)

But was removed, i think the vote was incorrect…
    What do you think?
A series of check boxes, so the user can decide how he/she wishes to see the data, would be worthwile.
A prerequisite for this is better tagging of data within the HTML, so it can be addressed discretely and meaningfully with IDs and CSS classes. Once that’s done, it opens up many possibilities for us to deal with our own formatting, filtering, and other ‘display issues’ on our own via custom CSS and script, rather than waiting for someone else to do it. The downside is increased page weight/bandwidth consumption, but there’s no way around that.

I doubt if more than 0.0001% of labels release multiple versions internationally so that would only be of benefit on the relatively tiny number of multinational labels. It might be useful as a page option but it would be a nuisance on the vast majority of label pages.

I’d like to see country added, as well. (now all the ‘fake’ country ‘sub’labels are being changed ….)

I seem to remember setting up a feature request for this at some point (I think it was in the old bug and request tracker back before Disbugs), so it’s great to see this finally implemented. Thank yew.
It’s already there…
And erm…..it ALWAYS has been.

    From 2001: http://web.archive.org/web/20020821070222/www.discogs.com/label/Stickman_Records

This is a useful little tweak, thanks.

Can we get the label pages to sort by year after the cat number?

  • Jan 7,2009 at 11:04

    EDIT:Never mind…

    Exellent update b.t.w. [u=teo]

They must mean the artist pages, cat# would be good there too.
Although the ordering isn’t completely sorted out
That’s something different. Long overdue though.
